There are 2 options for installation:
- With power supply from the vehicle 12V accessory power outlet. For this option, instructions for the power connection are in the Power Connection (Plug Option) section of these instructions.
- With power supply from the vehicle’s 12V or 24V permanent power supply. For this option, instructions for the power connection are in the Power Connection (Permanent Power Option) section of these instructions.
Installation involving connection to the vehicle’s permanent power supply should be carried out only by a qualified automotive electrician. Under no circumstances should it be carried out by unqualified persons. Doing so, or attempting to do so may result in serious damage to the vehicle and will void any warranty for this product, stated or implied.
Display Module
Select a position on the dashboard, preferably directly in front of the driver and as close to the windscreen as possible, where the display can be clearly read down the light shield.
Digital Tachometer Installation
Ensure that the proposed position will not interfere with the operation of the vehicle airbags, or any other vehicle controls, instruments or accessories. Also ensure that there is no obstruction between the top of the Display Module and the windscreen.
The proposed position should also ensure that the Display Module, when installed, is wholly below a (theoretical) straight line from the driver’s eye position to the highest visible line of the vehicle bonnet.
Before mounting the Display Module with the double sided adhesive pads provided, ensure that both surfaces are cleaned with a silicone release solvent. If necessary, use one of the Mounting Blocks supplied, to raise or tilt the Module for optimum viewing. If the dashboard shape or steering wheel obstruct the display, move the Module to an unobstructed position.
Mounting Blocks
If the use of a Mounting Block is necessary, attach it to the base of the Display Module in the correct position using one of the Adhesive Pads. Using another Adhesive Pad, locate the Display Module in the correct position and press it firmly into place.
Switch & Lead
Select a position for the Switch which is easily accessible to the driver. Ensure that this area is cleaned with a silicone release solvent.
Remove the Adhesive Pad backing from the Switch and press it firmly into the position chosen and previously cleaned.
Plug the switch lead into the socket marked SW on the rear of the Display Module.
Arrange the switch lead so that it does not interfere with the operation of, or impede access to any of the vehicle controls, instruments or accessories.
Power Connection (Plug Option)
Refer to Installation Diagram 1 following these instructions.
Using the Power Lead with Plug, connect the appropriate plug to the socket marked BAT on the rear of the Display Module.
Connect the power adaptor plug to the 12V accessory power outlet of the vehicle.
Arrange the power lead so that it does not interfere with the operation of, or impede access to any of the vehicle controls, instruments or accessories.
Power Connection (Permanent Power Option)
Refer to the general notes in the Installation section of these instructions and to Installation Diagram 2 following these instructions.
Using the Power Lead with One Plug, connect the plug on the lead to the socket marked BAT on the rear of the Display Module.
Carefully remove any trim from the right hand windscreen pillar. Feed the end (with no plug) of the lead through the gap revealed and pull through to below the dashboard and connect it to the vehicle ignition (Red) and body earth (Black), carefully matching the lead colours.
